Laughlin

Harrah’s Casino Laughlin, Nevada

We booked a Total Rewards Air trip with Harrah’s Laughlin before deciding to participate in the Great Race to Rewards. I first made Diamond in a Day back in 2006 at Harrah’s Laughlin so it seems like home. We enjoy the casino and facilities. It has certainly changed over the years some changes good, some not so good.

Harrah’s at Laughlin sits on the bank of the Colorado River

The key asset to Harrah’s Laughlin isn’t the Heat, it isn’t the the wonderful smell of Cinnabon’s, it is the people. Everyone you meet goes out of their way make sure your trip is pleasant.

Our trip started out checking our bags with the charter company. That is the last time you see your bag until it arrives at your room several hours after arrival at KIFP (Laughlin/Bullhead International Airport). The flight lands at Bullhead City, Arizona and you are loaded on to buses for the short trip across the river to the hotel. You are met by a group of hosts who hand you your room keys and information packet. You are free to explore your room, the casino, or the beach.

On this trip we headed right for the Total Rewards counter and opted in for the Great Race. After they swiped our cards we grabbed a couple of 100 play video poker machines and playing nickles soon had the required 25 tier points to count the Vegas area as our first checkpoint of the race. The casino was busy as it was a Friday night and the hotel was full.

There are several ways to get around the area. Rental car, taxi, and the famous water taxi. In Oklahoma we refer to the water taxi craft as a pontoon boat but these utility boats are a great way to travel from casino to casino.

Harrah’s sits at the south end of the casino strip and we ride to the north end and walk the short distances between casinos. It is a nice way to spend the day and often a profitable one. Temperatures can be hot in the Summer but you’ll soon realize “It’s a Dry Heat”.

On the last day of your trip three hours before departure, a Bellman comes to your room and picks up your luggage. It is transported to the airport in Bullhead City where you claim it before re-checking it with the airlines. A quick trip through security and you board your plane from one of the two departure gates.

Laughlin/Bullhead City is a great place with eleven casinos, dining, entertainment, and attractions. The Laughlin Entertainer Magazine is a free publication found in most casinos or on-line www.laughlinentertainer.com/. It lists events and shows in the local area as well as hotel and tour information. Some of the members of our charter flight even rented cars and drove the 95 miles north to Las Vegas for the day.

We had a very good time at Harrah’s and scored three checkpoints for the Great Race.
